For selected chemical products such as surfactants, water softeners, and complexing agents, manufacturers are required to provide independent evidence of biodegradability. OECD 301 test reports and equivalent regulatory documentation play a critical role in demonstrating readily biodegradable.

Certification requires successful completion of:

1. Ingredient screening against restricted substance and regulatory lists
2. Laboratory testing to identify restricted substances and contaminants
