OEKO-TEX® STeP certification supports companies on their journey towards more sustainable production by independently verifying environmental and social performance at the facility level.

By achieving OEKO-TEX® STeP certification, Htm Confection strengthens supply chain transparency, improves environmental performance and responsible chemical management, and aligns with internationally recognised sustainability standards.

The certification provides customers with independent third-party verification of responsible production practices and supports long-term competitiveness in European and global markets.

Discover in the full interview below how Htm Confection structured its sustainability strategy and strengthened international customer trust through OEKO-TEX® STeP:

1. What motivated your company to start the OEKO-TEX® certification journey, and what value does it create for your business today?

Our company was motivated to start the OEKO-TEX® certification journey by a strong commitment to environmental responsibility and meeting the growing expectations of international customers. The certification offered a recognised framework to ensure that our processes comply with strict global standards.

2. What motivated your company to pursue OEKO-TEX® STeP certification?

Our decision to pursue OEKO-TEX® STeP certification was driven by our commitment to implement a fully sustainable and responsible production system.

STeP offered a comprehensive framework to improve and monitor our environmental performance, chemical management, social responsibility, and occupational health and safety practices.

By choosing STeP, we aimed to increase transparency, meet the expectations of international customers, and align our operations with globally recognised sustainability standards. This certification strengthens our credibility, supports continuous improvement, and reinforces our long-term strategy for responsible and competitive textile production.

3. What were the main challenges during the implementation of OEKO-TEX® STeP, and what long-term impact has the certification had on your organisation?

Since our company pursued OEKO-TEX® STeP directly, the main challenge was to structure and formalise all sustainability practices across the entire organisation.

Implementing STeP required significant effort in documenting processes, strengthening chemical management, improving environmental performance, and aligning our social and occupational safety practices with international standards. Although the transition demanded time, training, and cross-department collaboration, its long-term impact is highly positive.

Today, STeP provides us with a solid management framework, greater transparency, stronger customer confidence, and continuous improvement across all operational areas, helping us operate more responsibly and competitively.
