In order to boost the trust of our customers and consumers in the OEKO-TEX® brand, OEKO-TEX® has been relying on the services of Berlin-based brand protection company SENTRYC for some time now. Its eponymous software tracks brand abuse and plagiarism on online marketplaces and social media platforms. The background to this is the boom in online shopping.
The number of issued labels and certificates rose to just under 32,000 in the last financial year (2020/2021). “We take the trust the market places in our products very seriously”, explains OEKO-TEX® Secretary General Georg Dieners. “Therefore, OEKO-TEX® continuously adopts measures to ensure consistent quality assurance – with particular emphasis on digital methods and external perspectives”.
SENTRYC continuously scans more than 120 international online marketplaces and all leading social networks. The software’s search algorithm is based on machine learning and combines relevant keywords, detailed descriptions and images to find potential violations. It automatically analyses and matches manipulated images, photos of fakes or products and logos as well as suspicious links and hashtags.
