ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX®: Effective 1 April 2023,
self-assessment will become a mandatory part of certification

So far, the ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® certification consisted of a mandatory CAS number screening and laboratory analysis. The self-assessment and on-site inspection were voluntary. While the on-site inspection remains voluntary for the time being, the self-assessment will become mandatory in April 2023 for all customers who have not yet passed it for their production sites.

Any certification or renewal issued after 1 April 2023 must include a valid self-assessment.

What does the new regulation ensure?

OEKO-TEX® is continuously working on improving its products. The new regulation ensures:

• the quality and traceability of the manufactured products

• proper wastewater and emissions management

occupational safety

Validity and ZDHC conformity

The questionnaire completed as part of the self-assessment is valid for three years; in addition, every certified ECO PASSPORT by OEKO-TEX® customer automatically receives ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) compliance level 2.
